Cloth Diapers Are a Renewable Resource

Om Baby Pregnancy & Parenting Center will hold the eighth annual Great Cloth Diaper Change (GCDC) at 11 a.m., April 21, as part of the Mechanicsburg Earth Day Festival. Cloth-diapering families and those interested in learning about them gather together at GCDC events around the world to change their babies into 100 percent reusable cloth diapers to share support and cloth diaper knowledge within their communities. Om Baby offers a Natural Baby Workshop that offers all the information needed to get started with cloth diapers.

Owner Holly Keich says, “Cloth diapers are environmentally friendly alternatives and have many benefits, including environmental—cloth diapers reduce waste for families with children in diapers by more than 50 percent; financial—cloth diapers allow families to save more than $2,000 per child; health—cloth diapers help parents reduce exposure of their babies’ skin and lungs to the chemicals in disposable diapers; comfort—parents love putting soft cloth diapers, available in a variety of styles and patterns, on their babies; and convenience—no more weekly trips to the store to purchase more, simply put a load in the laundry.
