Formed to educate and empower individuals to take responsibility for their health and to connect with a network of resources necessary to achieve whole-person health, The LivingWell Institute is reaching out to members of the community that may benefit from the organization’s lifestyle educational intervention program.

A collaborative effort between existing medical and wellness providers that offer the community effective approaches to whole person health, The LivingWell Institute (LWI) provides care and assistance for residents that have not yet developed the means to care for themselves. “We teach them how to identify and maximize the resources they already have at their disposal, and we provide resources where there are gaps,” explains Dr. Penny Koval, founder of the LWI. “It is not meant to replace a clinical environment, but rather to provide people a greater understanding of health and their potential to influence their own well-being,”

The Institute recently hosted a free, lecture and open community discussion with Professor B.W. Hegde on the topic of Integrating Ancient Medical Wisdom with Modern Medicine. Joining Hegde on the panel were Koval and Dr. Joanna Floros, Evan Pugh professor and director of CHILD Research in the Department of Pediatrics at Penn State Hershey College of Medicine.
