Natural Paths to Wellness Anticipates New Licensing Legislation

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has overwhelmingly passed House Bill 612, which licenses naturopathic doctors in the state of Pennsylvania, and is now awaiting a vote in the Pennsylvania State Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee.

Licensure of naturopathic doctors in Pennsylvania will establish eligibility requirements that include graduation from an accredited naturopathic medical school and completion of standardized NPLEX board exams. It will also define the scope of practice for naturopathic doctors; promote public safety through regulation of this rapidly growing and otherwise unregulated practice and establish professional standards and title protection; and open the door for insurance reimbursement.

Natural Paths to Wellness, in Camp Hill, has expanded this year to include a total of three accredited naturopathic practitioners. They all maintain naturopathic medical licenses in license eligible states (Oregon, Washington, and Vermont) and are one step away from becoming licensed naturopathic doctors in Pennsylvania. They urge residents to contact their state senators to pass HB612.
