Yoga for Cancer Patients and Survivors




Just Plain Yoga Studio is offering Yoga4Cancer (Y4C), a four-week series of yoga classes on Saturdays from January 26 through February 15 for cancer survivors and people with cancer. Instructor Sandy Gordon, LCSW, RYT-200, has worked extensively in treating cancer patients in the hospital setting, home health and hospice, nursing home and outpatient mental health facilities.

Yoga4Cancer (Y4C) is a research based, specialized yoga methodology addressing the specific physical and emotional needs left by cancer and its treatments. It will help participants maintain a strong immune system; build muscle strength; improve bone density; create self-confidence; provide solutions for treatment side effects; reduce stress; improve sleep; instill a sense of well-being; cultivate hope; provide a supportive community; and create a path a longer, happier, healthier life.

Gordon currently works in a private mental health practice and teaches yoga classes specializing in cancer, trauma, anxiety, depression and grief and loss.
