Studio Solomon will offer its first kids’ camp on three consecutive Tuesdays, beginning July 11, for children 5 through 8 and 9 through 12 years old, including new, 90-minute martial arts and drumming classes, as well as activities for parents while their children are in class.

Content for these classes will introduce the Universal African Fighting Arts System of martial arts and West African rhythms and djembe drumming. Class size will be limited to 10 students and requires a three-week, prepaid commitment.

“We intentionally keep the commitment short and hope to accommodate family vacation schedules,” says studio owner and martial arts instructor Leigh Wisotzkey. “It also allows the children to explore something new without a long-term investment by their parents.

“Since children tend to have shorter attention spans, the classes are kept short enough to keep them engaged and learning in a fun way,” says drumming instructor Yvonne Sadowy, who regularly works with children and drumming in the area.
