Spend the Day in a Lovely Field of Lavender

Amethyst Retreat Center will host the Lavender Harvest Festival from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., July 6, for a day of workshops, demonstrations, food, fun and learning all about lavender growing, harvesting and making products.

At this time of year, the lavender is blooming and fragrant. This relaxed summer festival celebrates the craft of turning natural materials into art, medicinal formulas and self-care products.

Everyone attending is welcome to take some fresh lavender home. Visitors should bring a portable chair or blanket, a sun hat, sun beach umbrella to create a spot to sip lemonade, enjoy and explore.

Highlights include hands-on and handcrafted natural materials demonstrations around the lavender field, pine needle baskets, raffia baskets, soap stone carving, flint knapping, lavender self-care products, artisans, wildcrafters, vendors and lavender-inspired food and drinks, including lavender snow cones, lavender lemonade, as well as non-lavender pizza, vegetarian and regular tacos.

There will be Native American flute music with talks on flute and drum making, plus open mic performances in the barn foundation by musicians, poets and storytellers

Admission is free, donations are accepted. Location: 44 Buffalo Creek Rd., Duncannon. For more information, visit AmethystRetreatCenter.org.
