April Fools’ Day is a Great Day for a Women’s Expo

Mar 07, 2017 03:08PM ● By Christianne Rupp

April Fools’ Day is a day for pranks and practical jokes, but always in lighthearted fun. It’s also the day for the fourth annual Dauphin County Women’s Expo, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 1, at the Hershey Lodge. Guests can chat with a wide variety of exhibitors that are eager to share information about their products, ranging from skin care, home and garden and pets to fashion accessories and jewelry, and purchase the items right there.

Because women spend a lot of time caring about the health of their entire families, this is a chance to speak with representatives about an array of wellness topics and professional services such as home improvement and finance to make a personal connection in a comfortable environment. Creative Elegance Boutique will present the fashion show, and the  LuLaRoe Pop-Up Shop will be showing their colorful line of garments for women and children.

The POUND Fitness class demonstration has a beat to it—literally. Pamra Bowser, from PowerTrain Sports, will lead a routine that combines lightly weighted exercise drumsticks called Ripstix with constant simulated drumming. Candice Luciani, a certified strength and conditioning specialist, will discuss the essentials to being strong and fit, and show how to make an effective resistance training workout.

Sweet Confections Cakes owner and head cake artist Darmayne Robertson will be assembling and creating a 3-D illusion purse out of cake and icing. Because spring is just around the corner and we’ll be planting gardens soon, Stauffers of Kissel Hill will show the audience some interesting ideas for vegetable container gardening, which is great for everyone, but especially people with limited space.

Contestants in the Hottest and Bravest Firefighter contest calendar will be vying for donations: invite family and friends to support their local fire stations. Votes at the women’s expo will help raise money for each firefighter’s respective station. ($1 donation for each vote.)

Location: 325 University Dr., Hershey. For free advance guest registration ($5 at the door), sponsor or exhibitor information, visit AGreatWayToSpendMyDay.com.
