Rickie Freedman, creator of ReikiSpace & Learning Place, in Harrisburg, resonates strongly with this quote. “To me, that’s the essence of what Reiki teaches you,” she says. “I have it on a whole wall in my classroom. Life is always going to present us with challenges. We’re all having a human experience full of lessons and growth. We have in our own hands—literally—the opportunity to bring ourselves back to our place of peace in a positive and healing way.” ReikiSpace is Harrisburg’s first standalone Reiki center, focusing on an integrative approach to healing. “We have two healing rooms for our 12 Reiki practitioners,” she says. “Since some of our practitioners specialize in other modalities, we often blend a Reiki session with other therapies.” Several popular services include pairing Reiki with reflexology, massage, Indian head massage and chakra foot massage.

ReikiSpace also offers a wide variety of classes, workshops and community gatherings. “Education is a huge part of what we do here,” says Freedman. “I also offer a mentorship program for holistic practitioners and other heart-centered small business professionals.”

Freedman took great care to create a warm, nurturing community space that also has a professional feel to it. “I love the feeling when I walk in here. Every little detail of the space was created with conscious intention,” she says. “I wanted a visit to ReikiSpace to be an experience.” Her favorite place is the Quiet Room. “People can come and relax for a while in the most comfortable, plush reclining chairs. They don’t have to rush from a treatment table to the outside world.”

Freedman, who discovered Reiki more than 20 years ago, says that her entire life experience revolves around the Reiki philosophy. “As you move forward on the Reiki path, it becomes the way you choose to live your life,” she explains. “A lot of people, before they become more conscious, are operating out of fear. I help them get into the flow of abundance, so that they are operating from a place of love. It is an awesome process to witness people’s transformation as they heal and love themselves more—as they allow their own lights to shine. Reiki shows us that place of love and peace is always within.”
