Get a Head Start on Reading

As part of the Candy Cane Walk/Open House and Silent Auction at Om Baby Pregnancy & Parenting Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., November 18, funds are being raised through a book drive for Capital Area Head Start.

Owner Holly Keich says, “Om Baby is teaming up to get a new book in the hands of every single one of the 1,144 children in the Capital Area Head Start program. Our goal is to raise over $2,848.13 in donations, and we need your help. Usborne Books & More has agreed to match our donations by 50 percent, so with our $2,848.13 and their match of $1,424.07, we can purchase $4,272.20 in books to give to these children!”

Research shows children that have 100 or more pieces of literature in their homes will make significant strides and perform better on tests than those that are not as fortunate. Capital Area Head Start provides comprehensive child development services to children up to 5 years old in Dauphin, Cumberland and Perry Counties, serving primarily low-income families.

Location: 2201 Market St., rear, Camp Hill. For more information, call 717-761-4975, email H[email protected] or visit OmBabyCenter.com/book-drive.html.
