Yoga for Mental Health Professionals

Just Plain Yoga will host an experiential workshop, Yoga Strategies for Healing Trauma, with Sandy Gordon, LCSW, from 1 to 3 p.m., November 4 and 5. Gordon is a licensed clinical social worker and has studied with Amy Weintraub with LifeForce Yoga to learn strategies that integrate yoga practices into the practice setting. Attendees should wear comfortable clothing and BYO yoga mat.

The workshop is designed to assist mental health professionals in learning yoga strategies to work with clients experiencing trauma, depression and anxiety. Not just focusing on the asanas (postures) of yoga, this workshop includes the pranayama (breath), mantra (sound), bhavana (imagery), sankalpa (affirmation) and svadhyaya (self-inquiry) of yoga. It also provides therapists an opportunity to soften and release some of their own held tension and stress that may occur when in a profession of serving others.

Cost: $70 in advance by Oct. 30 or $90 at the door. Location: 1845 Market St., Camp Hill. Register at 717-975-9642, or
