Recovery Rising - Art and Music to Benefit Addiction Recovery

The nonprofit Amethyst Retreat Center, along with regional artists and musicians are teaming up during National Recovery Month to support those in addiction recovery, and to provide financial aid to local addiction recovery programs. There will be an afternoon of music, art, and food from noon to 6 p.m., September 17, in a beautiful natural setting.

Opioid addiction is one of the most destructive issues in society today, with mortality rates surpassing any other cause of death. Artists and musicians seem to be a segment of society that are hardest hit by addiction, and this event gives them and the public an opportunity to support and help each other.

Amethyst Retreat Center has dedicated more than 30 years to the evolution of human potential through creating the conditions for learning, healing and living in body, mind and spirit.

Admission is free, donations are welcome; no drugs or alcohol allowed. Location: 44 Buffalo Creek Rd., Duncannon. For more information, call Karen Kovacs, 717 574-2654 or visit AmethystRetreatCenter.org.
