Fredricksen Library Hosts Heirloom Seed Saving Workshop

Diane Ott Whealy, author of Gathering: Memoir of a Seed Saver and co-founder of Seed Savers Exchange, the nation’s largest non-governmental seed bank, and a national leader in the heirloom seed-saving movement, will appear at the Fredricksen Library at 2 p.m., March 17, for an Heirloom Seed Saving Workshop.

Whealy will discuss the importance of preserving plant heritage, describe the mission of the Seed Savers Exchange and explain how to save seeds. She will share some heirloom seeds from the collection, such as Grandpa Ott’s Morning Glory, the variety that inspired the founding of the Exchange, and Outhouse Hollyhocks.
