Natural Awakenings South Central Pennsylvania

Prana, Shakti and Friendship

As individuals reach adulthood, their attention often shifts toward being good spouses and parents, leading many to ignore the importance of their own inner grace and the personal companionship of friends.

Tantric philosophy teaches that prana, the universal life force in the physical body is transformed into the primal, sensual, creative energy known as shakti. To stifle or deny our desires requires energy and creates inner tension, resulting in sanskaras—deep grooves or imprints on the subconscious mind, which can become major obstacles later.

Because sanskaras are created through unconscious “un-remembering,” we are numb to them. Yet, they are felt in the form of emotional instability, obsession and self-betrayal. It often takes a special, rare moment to reawaken ourselves to that which we’ve denied as awareness begins to flood our mind and bodies.

Enjoying time for completely honest and tender conversation and reflection with friends on a level where criticism and competition do not exist can recharge the spirit and create the special moments that lead to inner awareness. Transformations come through simple moments in everyday life, if we pay attention to them.

Today, take one step toward that which you have been denying yourself. Gather regularly with life-affirming people that recognize your unique and powerful contribution to their lives.
