Black History Month at Studio Solomon

During February, Black History Month, Studio Solomon will celebrate a year of growth with discounted West African drumming classes for $10. Owner and instructor Leigh Wisotzkey says, “2023 was an entire year of growth for all our drummers. Collectively, our numbers and skills grew by leaps and bound and we also had visiting and master teachers back in the studio to share new music with us. It’s always exciting to take drumming outside of the studio because the music is so engaging.” Beginner classes are held every Tuesday evening, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Last year, the Gamut Theatre production of The Jungle Book collaborated with the Rasika School of Dance; Lebanon’s Juneteenth celebration included interactive drumming; Harrisburg’s Kipona Festival performance featured interactive drumming; and the group participated in Elizabethtown’s second Friday celebration.
