Local Community Art Resources

Central Pennsylvania has all the resources a parent needs to introduce and invigorate their children’s creative side and to enrich their lives with dance, music, art, storytelling and theater.

One of the great treats in the area is Gamut Theater/Popcorn Hat Players, where the child within each person is unleashed through traditional fairytales with an unexpected twist.

A make-your-own-pottery studio, Color Me Mine lets creativity abound. At any age, the kid inside each person that enters will enjoy selecting a piece off the shelf and making it their own.

The Curiosity Connection is located in the State Museum of Pennsylvania. This special place is designed to engage the imagination of children aged 1 to 5 years. It features interactive areas that enable children to participate in Pennsylvania’s history, from industries to art.

Get them up and moving! At E Dance Center anyone can learn every type of dance from tap, jazz, and ballet to hip-hop, modern, jazz-funk and more. Kids can experience all aspects of dance, from simple fun to theatrical.

The county library systems add arts and culture to children’s lives through ongoing reading programs. The Dauphin and Cumberland County library systems work together, sharing books and offering programs that unlock a child’s imagination.

At the Carlisle Arts Learning Center (CALC), children can enjoy participating in any form of art they wish. About to undergo some exciting changes in the near future, CALC offers classes in ceramics, photography, drawing and painting, copper enameling, pottery and more.
