Market Square Bistro for HELP Ministries
Holiday tradition with French bistro theme
The 30th annual Market Square Bistro will take place on Sunday, December 1, at Market Square Presbyterian Church, 20 S. Second Street, Harrisburg. This popular holiday event includes home-made soups, breads, and desserts and live musical entertainment.
Two seatings are planned, at lunchtime from noon to 2:00 p.m., and for dinner from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Everything on the menu is donated, so that every cent of ticket sales is contributed to Christian Churches United for their HELP Ministries, providing services such as food and clothing referrals, shelter, rent and utility assistance, and home heating fuel for people in our region. Over the previous 29 years of Bistro, Market Square has raised more than $165,000 for others.
Soup offerings include Pistou (Provencal Vegetable); George Washington’s Colonial Peanut & Chestnut; Turkey Noodle; Korean Beef, Tofu, and Bean Paste Stew; and Pumpkin, Saffron & Orange.
Bistro will feature musical entertainment by father and son duo Tom and Greg Strohman, performing on a variety of woodwind instruments and trombone at the lunchtime seating. The dinner seating entertainment will be presented by jazz pianist Ralph Diekemper and Native American flute and percussionist Sterling Greene, Jr.
Tickets for the all-you-can-eat Bistro and entertainment may be purchased at the door. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $7.50 for children under 12.
Parking in the adjacent city-owned Market Square Garage will be provided free of charge to patrons. Access directly into the church is available from Level 1 of the garage. The church is accessible to people with disabilities.
