Natural Awakenings South Central Pennsylvania

Wild Lands: Primitive Skills Series

Explore and practice the land-based skills that connect us more closely with nature and our human ancestry.

Running in TWO FORMATS for the Fall of 2023, join the Horn Farm Center's Woodland Steward Wilson Alvarez for a five-day immersion in the foundational skills that humans have known for centuries:

Weekly Series:

Taking place from 9am to 4pm over five consecutive Sundays beginning October 1st. Registration link below:

Four-Day Intensive:

Taking place daily, 9am to 4pm, from Sunday, October 1st to Wednesday, October 4th. Registration link below:

https://hornfarmcenter.org/civimessages/event/info/?reset=1&id=980

In both iterations, students will gain hands-on experience with basic, pre-industrial, woodland-style survival skills and bushcraft. This includes gathering wild foods, building debris-huts, animal tracking, fire-making techniques such as hand-drill and bow drill, making basic hunting implements such as a survival bow and simple traps, and much more! Grouped together, these classes provide a well-rounded introduction to the foundational skills that connect us more closely with nature and our human ancestry.

For the weekly series: participants have the option to sign up for stand-alone one-day workshops or the full five-class series at a discounted rate. Participants CANNOT sign up for individual sessions in the four-day intensive.
