Green C.A.U.S.E. to Promote and Connect Local Eco-Groups

The Mechanicsburg Area Environmental Club (MAEC) has formed Green Capital Area United to Serve the Environment (C.A.U.S.E.), an umbrella organization whose purpose is to spawn and support multiple grassroots municipal environmental clubs that will monitor, improve and maintain the quality of their own water, land, air, flora and fauna. The newly formed group will hold business meetings the second Thursday of every month, at the new environmental classrooms at Mechanicsburg Areas School District (MASD) Trails and Trees Environmental Center. Meetings featuring informational speakers, documentaries and details about upcoming field trips will take place on the fourth Thursday of each month, at Harrisburg Area Community College’s (HAAC) Midtown 2 Building. All meetings will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

According to MAEC’s Paul Garret, C.A.U.S.E. will connect municipal green organizations in Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties to facilitate the sharing of information; promote green living and green business; and provide education about good stewardship practices that improve and maintain water, air and Earth.

Location: MASD’s Trails and Trees Environmental Center, 1731 S. York St., Mechanicsburg 17055. HAAC’s Midtown 2 Building, 1500 N. 3rd St., Harrisburg 17110. For more information, call 717-514-3546, email [email protected] or visit Green-Cause.org.
