HACC Offering Green Courses

Harrisburg Area Community College’s (HACC) Workforce and Economic Development team is offering green courses that will provide the training and education businesses need to become both competitive applicants in the workforce and good stewards of the environment.

Current courses include Solar Photovoltaic (PV); Solar PV Installer; Building Analyst/Energy Auditor; and Environment Technician. Future courses will include Solar Thermal; Alternative Energy (fuel cells, ethanol, biodiesel); and Wastewater Plant Operator. Training is provided in the Harrisburg, Lebanon and Lancaster areas, and plans are underway to expand into York, Mifflin and Juniata counties. Course lengths range from a few hours one or two days or nights per week, to eight-hour days, five days per week.

HACC works with government agencies to make funding assistance for the training available to workers age 55 or older, to existing workers wanting new skills and to displaced workers looking for employment.
