Partners in Wellness Helps Cancer Patients

(L to R): Camille Baughman, Gigi Jantos and Bonnie Berk

The YWCA Carlisle is offering a program designed to provide complementary therapeutic services to people with cancer, from diagnosis to 36 months after treatment. Called Partners in Wellness, the program offers massage, Reiki, yoga and Heart of Healing, a seven-week educational growth group.

Clients can receive four sessions of massage and/or Reiki through the program. The first session is free, and a small fee, based on income, is required for additional sessions. Clients can also participate in a series of six yoga classes for $10.

According to Program Manager Donoré Lantz, research demonstrates that these therapies may relieve many of the symptoms associated with cancer and its treatment, including pain, fatigue, stress, anxiety, fear and nausea. Therapies are provided by professionally trained, licensed and certified practitioners Camille Baughman, Gigi Jantos and Bonnie Berk, with funding from the Carlisle Area Health and Wellness Foundation. Since its launch in 2004, nearly 300 clients have participated in the Partners in Wellness program.

Location: 301 G St., Carlisle 17013. For information or to enroll in the program, call 717-243-3818 or visit YWCACarlisle.org.
