As a remodeling contractor, Robert Wright frequently saw energy inefficiencies in homes and began encouraging customers to think green during home improvements. Recently, Wright launched Efficient Home Systems, a new company offering home energy audits to residents of Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry and York counties.

According to Wright, a home energy audit is often the first step in making a home more efficient. It assesses how much energy the home uses and evaluates what measures can be taken to enhance energy efficiency, lower utility bills and increase the home’s comfort and indoor air quality.

Consumers can take advantage of tax rebates and financial incentives from their utility company to help pay for improvements, although some services are provided at no cost.
