Tranquility Salon and Wellness Center, an Aveda salon dedicated to health and wellness, has opened in Carlisle. The salon uses products that are all natural and 97 percent organic, even for textured perming and color service. Other services include various types of massage, reflexology and Ionic Detox Therapy by Gayle Vallie, a certified Ion Cleanse practitioner and certified Young Living aromatherapist. The new center also includes the first and only salt cave in Pennsylvania.

The salt cave comprises 10 tons of salt imported from the Himalaya Mountains, creating a bacteriologically clean microclimate. According to owners, Lisa and Scott Ramsey, salt crystal stones saturate the air with negative ions and minerals like sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, bromine and iodine, which are crucial for good health, performance and fitness. As the saturated air is breathed into the lungs during the therapy, the microscopic particles are absorbed into the body, maximizing the intake and available supply of these vital elements.
