Popular Snack Cakes Now at Wegmans

Customers searching for a healthy, light snack can drop by Wegmans, in Mechanicsburg, to witness CocoPop multi-grain cakes being made right onsite in the Nature’s Market section of the store. The cakes are baked fresh daily from natural ingredients in either whole wheat or multi-grain varieties, with a 30-day shelf life. Wegmans expects to release additional varieties this summer.

With wheat, rice, corn and sea salt as main ingredients, Cocopops can be described as a cross between a corn chip and a rice cake. The CocoPop machine uses a combination of heat, compression and air to produce a pop cake. The pop describes the sound heard once the coco cake is ready.

According to Nature’s Market Team Leader Carolyn Moyer CocoPop is an affordable way to eat healthy. They contain no fat, no sugar and no preservatives, and only 16 calories each. The whole wheat variety yields 15 grams of whole grains per serving. Moyer recommends topping the cakes with hummus, salsa, bruschetta mix or Wegmans fresh ground chocolate peanut butter.
