Giant Food Stores Launch Passport to Nutrition

Jul 30, 2011 02:13PM

In their ongoing efforts to help combat childhood obesity, the nutritionists at Giant Food Stores have launched Passport to Nutrition, a web-based program to educate kids about nutrition and living healthy lifestyles in a fun and interactive way. The program, which can be found online at GiantFoodStores.com/KidHealthyIdeas, also provides parents and teachers with tools to help children achieve healthy lifestyles and eating habits both at home and at school.

One goal of Passport to Nutrition is to give kids, parents and teachers the information and motivation they need to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. The program consists of four lessons, which cover the food pyramid and physical activity; understanding food labels and portion control; how to eat enough fruits, vegetables and grains; and choosing healthy snacks and beverages. Accompanying each of the four lessons are downloadable worksheets, kid-friendly songs and interactive games.
