HACC Hosts Open House for Massage Program

Massage therapy is among the region’s fastest growing occupations, with many options for licensed therapists. Potential students and their families can explore those options at an open house from 1 to 3 p.m., October 22, with a presentation at 1:30 p.m., in Hall Tech 203, at HACC’s Harrisburg Campus. HACC’s fully accredited program prepares individuals with the hands-on, clinical, ethical, business and communication skills that are required to enter the healthcare field as a massage therapist.

Pennsylvania requires licensed massage therapists to complete 24 CEU hours every two-year license renewal cycle. This fall, HACC will provide the following courses, which meet state continuing education requirements: Massage in Long-Term Care, September 28, Oct. 1 and 2; Massage Therapy for the Iliopsoas and Quadratus Lumborum, October 29; and Event Sports Massage, November 12 and13. Massage Therapy training also can be a valuable complement to nurses who want to add alternative therapies to their skill set. HACC offers a $700 discount to all nurses who enroll in the program.

HACC’s Massage Therapy Program is a member of the American Therapy Association and Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals and is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork as a continuing education approved provider.
