Elements Therapeutic Massage: A Truly Therapeutic Experience

Nov 30, 2011 12:10PM ● By Beth Davis

Debbie Fasnacht has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. After spending 10 years as a corporate secretary in New York City, she opened an in-home licensed daycare so she could be a stay-at-home mom. Over the years, her interest in health and well-being began to grow, and with it her desire to open a business that would help others on their own path to optimal health.

In May 2010, she took the leap and launched Elements Therapeutic Massage, in Mechanicsburg. Since then, the studio’s highly trained and qualified therapists have performed more than 7,000 massages—a testament to the impeccable service for which they have become known.

Fasnacht says she was attracted to the Elements franchise not only because it already had systems in place, but also due to its dedication to health and wellness. “The focus is to deliver a truly therapeutic experience—one that has a positive effect both physically and emotionally,” she explains.

Studies have found regular massage therapy helpful for stress relief; managing anxiety and depression; pain and stiffness; migraines; blood pressure control; boosting immunity; and much more. “Our goal is to provide a healing touch while also creating a connection,” she explains. “Massage is not a luxury, it’s about well-being; helping people to de-stress, taking time to breath and heal.”

Another important factor that drew Fasnacht to the franchise was the commitment to its therapists. A massage therapist founded the franchise; therefore, ensuring the therapists’ comfort is a top priority. At Elements of Mechanicsburg, therapists administer no more than six massages per day, benefitting both the customer and the therapist. Hydraulic tables are used so the practitioner can easily regulate the height of the table and avoid massage-related injury.

Nine massage therapists are currently on staff and each one is state licensed and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)-certified, which is directed toward healthcare professionals and staff that have access to patients’ private information.

To better connect clients and therapists—and offer the best possible service—the therapists are categorized into four levels. Using these levels, clients are better able to describe the type and pressure of massage they are seeking. For example, level one gives a light pressure, relaxing massage, while level four gives a very deep massage with trigger point work.

“Whether you are looking for pain relief, reduction of stress or simply want to relax and feel your best, we are committed to making your experience great every single time.”

A wide variety of massage modalities are offered at Elements, including deep tissue, trigger point, sports massage, prenatal, Swedish, and hot stone massage. Fasnacht says they provide a customized massage. “Our therapists will spend time with you to understand your body's problem areas, learn about any health conditions you may have and listen to your expectations, so that the massage can be customized to meet your needs,” she notes. The cost for a 55-minute massage doesn’t change based on the modalities incorporated into the massage—individuals are not charged extra. “The cost is the cost,” she says.

It’s no secret that regular massage therapy simply helps the body perform better and more efficiently. Fasnacht says they encourage customers to come in at least once per month. To make it easier, they offer The Elements Wellness Program, a month-to-month program with no long-term contract or commitment. Members enjoy exclusive benefits such as $20 off the cost of all their massages; gift cards at discounted rates; and membership only specials. Unused massage sessions roll over to the next month and they may share their membership with an associate member of their choice.

“Our customers’ health and happiness is always our number one priority,” says Fasnacht. “Whether you are looking for pain relief, reduction of stress or simply want to relax and feel your best, we are committed to making your experience great every single time.”
