November Kudos

José Johnson

Master José Johnson and his Center for Chinese Martial Arts and Wellness, in Harrisburg, are racking up special recognition this year, earning three awards for excellence in the martial arts field.

In June, Johnson was awarded his 8th-degree black belt—the second-highest rank in the United States—by the International Wushu Sanshou Dao Association. He is one of the few Americans, and the youngest person ever, to achieve the ranking. Also this summer, Central Penn Parent magazine named the Center the Best Martial Arts Program for the second consecutive year. In September, the Center was named 2012 School of the Year by the Educational Funding Company, an international marketing, consulting and payment-processing firm that specializes in serving the worldwide martial arts industry, at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.
