Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy: Changing Lives from the Inside Out

Jan 02, 2013 08:35PM ● By Stephanie Trump Johnston

We have all experienced the satisfying sensation of a good stretch as we practice yoga—it just makes our body feel good. At its roots, yoga has always been more than just a physical practice, so what about the other parts of ourselves that we bring to our mat; the emotions, thoughts and spirit?

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT) provides a way to become more deeply aware of our yoga practice and to explore these other components. Developed more than 30 years ago, PRYT is a combination of yoga and psychology. In a one-on-one session, the body is moved and stretched and specific dialogues techniques are used that allow us to speak about what we are experiencing. This allows us to connect with what is happening in the body and to relate it to our life. These connections provide a deeper awareness and ultimately, a sense of letting go. Individuals report a greater awareness and release around personal health issues, physical and emotional issues, past experiences or traumas and limiting beliefs, habits and patterns, which provides a growing capacity for lasting change and for living life to the fullest.

PRYT also offers an ongoing therapeutic mentoring component and a group component.
