Lapis Studio Hosts Sound Workshops

Lapis Studio-Manaola, LLC, the only studio in the area with a certified Himalayan singing bowl and gong practitioner, will host a Sacred Dharma Toning Circle at 10:30 p.m., March 9. Participants will practice and strengthen the healing power of the human voice (overtoning). The event is open to everyone and no prior experience is required.

The studio presents Nada Yoga–Sound Immersion at 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., on the third Sunday of every month. This unique style of yoga and meditation allows the mind, body and spirit to harmonize with the harmonics of sound tools.

“By selectively sequencing the gentle rhythmic tones of the Himalayan singing bowls, gongs and other sacred sound tools, participants enter a meditative state, which allows them to address challenges or simply escape from the stress and demands of life,” says co-founder Kathleen Baker. “We create time and space dedicated to provide a unique ‘me time’ experience.

“I refer to the sessions as ‘soundscapes’, as we try to create sounds and harmonics that will stir one’s imagination, much like hearing movie soundtracks or jingles, and when you hear them, they bring vivid pictures to mind, tastes and/or smells,” she adds.

Cost: $10 each. Location: 550 Coventry Dr., Mechanicsburg. For more information, call 717-516-1164 or visit Manaola.net.
