Second Annual Dog Days of Summer Celebration

Dog Days of Summer, hosted by Palmyra Real Food Emporium, returns for its second year from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m., August 24, at the Emporium, in Palmyra. Throughout the afternoon, attendees will savor summertime farm-fresh food, and a Dixieland-style jazz concert will provide entertainment into the evening. The celebration will take place regardless of weather.

Between 12:30 and 5:30 p.m., Grazing Pass holders are invited to nibble from a menu of grass-fed beef, pork, chicken, corn-on-the-cob, baked beans, salads and desserts, in addition to water, fresh iced tea and raw milk. Afterwards, The Hothouse Jazz Band will perform two blocks from the Emporium, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bring a folding chair to both venues.

Tickets for the Grazing Pass or the show can be purchased separately for $12 for adults and $7 for children ages 6 to 10. Children under 6 are free. Reduced package ticket prices are available, and early bird discounts apply to tickets purchased by August 15.

The Emporium brings local, farm fresh food and specialty products to residents of Lebanon, Lancaster, Dauphin and surrounding counties. All products are organic, grass-fed, free-range and/or chemical/hormone-free. Many items are gluten-free. All fresh items are produced within a 30-mile radius of the Emporium (except citrus and bananas).
