World Tai Chi and Qigong Day Celebration

York County's tai chi and qigong instructors invite the public to join them in a free celebration of the 16th annual World Tai Chi and Qigong Day at 10 a.m., April 26, at the Shrewsbury YMCA and other York County locations to be determined. A variety of simple tai chi and qigong forms will be demonstrated, offering everyone a chance to participate and learn the benefit of these gentle, health-promoting exercises.

This annual international event begins in the earliest time zone of Samoa at 10 a.m., with participants across six continents, 80 nations, all 50 states in the United States, and ending with the final events in the last time zone of Hawaii almost an entire day later. Celebrations include tai chi and qigong demonstrations and free classes.

World Tai Chi and Qigong Day goals include education about medical research revealing the health benefits of practicing tai chi and qigong; application in business, healthcare, education, and rehabilitation; and cooperation for health and healing purposes across geopolitical boundaries.
