West Shore YMCA Offers Adult Swim Lessons

Harrisburg Area YMCA, West Shore Branch, is offering a new Masters Swim Program geared toward adults 19 and over that know how to swim, but would like to improve their abilities, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, from October 27 through December 21.

Beginner-level and intermediate-level swim lessons are also offered throughout the year in eight-week sessions.

“Swim lessons can be beneficial for all levels; helping beginners learn technique and feel more confident and safe in the water, assisting intermediate swimmers to improve their stroke technique and become more efficient swimmers; as well as helping the more experienced swimmer train for longer distances or prepare them for competition,” says Jason Snyder, wellness/marketing director for West Shore YMCA. “Oftentimes, adults assume swim lessons are only needed for children, but many adults that haven’t had formal lessons may have poor form and in some cases, safety concerns.”

Lessons are free to YMCA members and $50 per session or $10 drop-in fee per class for non-members. Location: 410 Fallowfield Rd., Camp Hill. For more information, call 717- 737-9622, email Debby Griffith at [email protected] or visit ymcaharrisburg.org.
