Natural Awakenings South Central Pennsylvania

A New Kind of Earth Day Celebration

Amethyst Retreat Center will provide an opportunity to enjoy this community of like-minded people and the surrounding natural beauty at the New Earth Day Celebration and Annual Kite Flying Event from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., April 16. The event's purpose is to expand the traditional annual Earth Day focus beyond ecology and the environment, with emphasis on living in a new way on the Earth that develops a deep love and connection to nature.

A dedication ceremony will kick off the building of a new labyrinth. The annual kite-making and flying event, shinrin-yoku, or “forest bathing” is the Japanese art of bathing in the beauty of nature as medicine for health an well-being.

A children's mindfulness class begins with yoga and ends with a gnome house building project in the forest, and there is a community vegetarian potluck in the evening.  Guests can roam the fields, walk through the forest and attend any class or workshop they desire.

Pets are welcome and donations are accepted. Location: 44 Buffalo Creek Rd., Duncannon PA. For more information, visit AmethystRetreatCenter.org.
