Natural Awakenings South Central Pennsylvania

Learn Hand Drumming From an Expert

Studio Solomon is adding a class, Intro/Beginner Level Djembe and West African Drumming, beginning with a six-week session from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning April 5 through May 10. Yvonne Sadowy, a member of Nayo Drum Collective, Bumbada Women Drummers and Unity Drummers, all performing in the Central Pennsylvania area, is the instructor.

This class provides a good foundation for drummers to pursue additional learning opportunities in West African drumming, which also relates to African dance, both of which are offered at Studio Solomon.

Many people in the Central Pennsylvania area attend local drum circles and play or own a djembe drum made of natural or synthetic materials. Beginner and/or self-taught drummers may enjoy learning more about the origin of the djembe, drum technique, hand patterns and West African rhythms.

Location: 310 S. 10th St., Lemoyne. For more information, call Leigh Wisotzkey at 717-329-2955, email [email protected] or visit StudioSolomon.com.
