Host Families Needed for Fresh Air Fund Kids

Each summer, more than 4,000 inner-city children visit suburban, rural and small town communities across 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada through the independent, nonprofit Fresh Air Fund’s Volunteer Host Family program. Volunteer families in the Harrisburg area are needed to open their hearts and host low-income New York City children from 7 to 18 years old.

Children on their first visit are between 7 and 12 years old and stay for one week. Children that are re-invited by host families may continue through age 18 and enjoy extended trips; more than 65 percent of all Fresh Air children are invited to visit the same host families year after year. The Fresh Air Fund has provided free summer experiences to more than 1.8 million New York City children from low-income communities since 1877.
