New Yoga Therapy Class To Ease Anxiety

Dan Coma, RYT, will be instructing a new eight-week class, Easing Anxiety with Yoga, in 75-minute sessions on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m., beginning September 8 at University Fitness Center at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Coma states, “This class is unique because it is for individuals who have a diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder, and a referral from a clinician is required. Our class is a research-supported yoga and meditation protocol that includes a breathing technique for calming, a specially chosen exercise sequence, a guided body scan, deep relaxation and a meditation practice.”

Coma is completing an advanced three-year, 1,000-hour training program in the emerging field of yoga therapy, meeting the training standards set by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. The yoga therapy components of this class are based on an IAYT accredited program and not derived from the instructor’s status as RYT with Yoga Alliance.
