Ashia Philippe, a certified Timbuk African Dance Fitness instructor, has joined the staff of Studio Solomon, in Lemoyne. Her class, Timbuk Tuesday, is held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays. No prior dance experience is required.

“It’s a great fit with our current West African dance and drumming classes because it enables the community to get a taste of African dance styles from Ghana, Mali, Senegal, The Ivory Coast and Ethiopia in a familiar fitness class environment,” says owner Leigh Wisotzkey. “The only difference is that this class is held on a matted surface, in bare feet, just like our traditional African dance classes.”
