Awakening the Dreamer York Connects People Near and Far

Awakening the Dreamer York will host a workshop from 2 to 6 p.m., April 22, at the Sacred Heart Parish Center, in Spring Grove, on the work of the Pachamama Alliance, an international umbrella organization that founded the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium. Attendees will receive transformative information about creating a world that works for all life and be given an immediate outlet to get into action, with representatives from several local community action groups available to make connections and answer questions.

The Pachamama Alliance fosters a partnership between the People of the North in the U.S. with indigenous groups of the Amazon Rainforest, actively resists oil exploitation in the rainforest and acts as an advocate politically for the Achuar people and their neighbors in the Amazon basin. “Our work locally supports our indigenous partners, physically located in Ecuador at the Amazon headwaters in a small grove and community within the larger forest and community of the Pachamama Alliance,” explains Erin Shrader, organizer.

“Our indigenous brothers and sisters believe, ‘What I do to you, I do to me; what I do to the Earth, I do to myself.’” shares Shrader. “We are working to bring their mission to the Susquehanna Valley; a message of peace and hope, of respect for the Earth and the First People of the United States.”

Willa Lefever, co-owner of Sonnewald Natural Foods, has been a longtime supporter of the mission and vision of the Pachamama Alliance. “The purposes of Sonnewald Natural Food and Sonnewald Life Institute align with the important efforts of the Pachamama Alliance,” notes Lefever. “We are committed to living gently on the Earth, and celebrate differences by seeking unity, harmony and peace. By cultivating awareness and encouraging positive action, we support lifelong learning.

“Awakening the Dreamer workshops bring powerful experiences to local communities. It’s time to create the more beautiful world we all know is possible, and we are the ones we’ve been waiting for,” enthuses Lefever.
