HomeMade SuperChef Culinary Challenge : Only several contestant spots still available

Are you the first HomeMade SuperChef? This upcoming event is the inaugural amateur culinary challenge presented by Events by Eye Candy and the Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) Culinary School that will take place from noon to 3 p.m., September 9, at the Radisson Hotel Harrisburg, in Camp Hill. The event brings together cuisine lovers to celebrate culinary entries created by amateur chefs using PA Preferred products. The event proceeds will be split among New Hope Ministries, the Peyton Walker Foundation and a scholarship for a HACC culinary student.

Twelve amateur chefs will each be teamed with a HACC culinary student to act as their sous chef and create original signature dishes for more than 300 attendees that will taste the food and judge the winner worthy of the title Homemade SuperChef. Culinary students, food and equipment are provided. Competitors provide recipes that feature at least one of the main ingredients from the list of PA Preferred products and raise a minimum of $250 to enter. Only a few contestant spots remain. Register now to enter the competition for a chance to become the first Homemade SuperChef.

The competition is evaluated on the criteria of attendee’s choice, 50 percent, celebrity judges, 25 percent and fundraising, 25 percent. The chance of winning increases with the amount of money raised.  “Main ingredients for this event are being provided by local farms,” explains Abeer Srouji Allen, event co-organizer.

Events by Eye Candy is a family and veteran-owned business created by Allen and her sister, Tania Srouji, who created the original Central PA SuperChef eight years ago, which has raised more than $182,000 for local nonprofits. They are dedicated to serving the community with unique events that create opportunities for businesses while paying it forward.
