Sonnewald Farm Acreage
The 60-acre, chemical-free Sonnewald Farm, located in York County midway between York and Hanover, is in a serene setting on the edge of the small village of Stoverstown. Resuming the farm is a collaboration between Sonnewald Natural Foods and the Sonnewald Life Institute, an educational non-profit that will carry the legacy of Sonnewald into the future. While there is no firm date, it is a very high priority to utilize the farm to create value for Sonnewald Natural Foods and the community.
A permaculture design study is underway to ensure that all goals are met and the natural ecosystems are not adversely affected. Goals include identifying garden areas, upgrading greenhouses that have been dormant and creating space for educational events.
“Sonnewald will be increasing the value it provides the community by expanding educational opportunities in all aspects of healthy, sustainable and regenerative living,” explains Sonnewald employee Denise Hoffman. “The farm will provide chemical-free, fresh, produce of exceptional quality for our customers.”
