Awakening to Presence Relaxation Workshops
Jul 29, 2018 08:46PM
Dr. Louise Hatfield and Michael Fleming, of Awakening to Presence (ATP), will present Learn How To Relax, a two-part workshop about defusing stressful thoughts or beliefs and finding a calm and relaxed state of being. Part one will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., September 15 and 16, and part two on October 20 and 21, at the Dixon University Center.
Hatfield will teach part one––a prerequisite for attending part two––as an introduction to a method of inquiry developed by self-help guru Byron Katie, as well as an introduction to sounds and conscious movement to calm the autonomic nervous system, informed by the polyvagal theory of Dr. Stephen Porges related to neuroscience. Participants will learn how to relax and find their inner truth, peace and well-being through ATP grounding.
Individual support via feedback on practice sessions will be conducted between part one and part two. Co-taught by Fleming and Hatfield, part two takes participants deeper into inquiry, grounding and conscious movement.
“ATP integrates many fields of study, including neuroscience, physiology, anatomy and psychology to support the awakening of individuals to their true source of being, underneath the conditioned ego,” says Hatfield.
Hatfield received a Ph.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1993 and served on the faculty at Shippensburg University for 27 years. Fleming is the founder of the integrative program Awakening to Presence, and has facilitated more than 200 workshops on awakening in the U.S., Brazil, Mexico and Japan.
Cost including lunch: Part 1: $275; Part 2: $325; CEU/CEC hours available through Shippensburg University. Location: 2986 N. 2nd St., Harrisburg. To register, call 717-241-5063 or email [email protected]. For more information, visit DixonUniversityCenter.org/news-events or AwakeningToPresence.com.
