The Sonnewald Exchange
The Sonnewald Exchange is a 16-by-24-foot, free community book swap that is also a registered Little Free Library (LittleFreeLibrary.org). A collaborative effort of Sonnewald Natural Foods and the Sonnewald Life Institute, it is located inside the South Building at Morningstar Marketplace, in Thomasville, and open during the regular hours of the market, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
With the theme of, “Take books, leave books and share books,” the exchange encourages literacy and a lifelong love of learning within the community. Sharing books creates more value for more people. A tremendous education and broadening of horizons can be gained at no cost.
Books on all topics may be donated any time the Morningstar Market is open. Children’s books are always in great demand and are displayed in a separate area. Donation instructions are posted in the booth; book contributions may be placed on any open shelf and children’s books should be placed in the Children’s Area.
The mural by a local artist, as seen in the accompanying image, was painted 15 years before Sonnewald had any knowledge of how the booth would eventually be used. It is a fitting decoration that enhances the welcoming feel of a space that encourages an enduring love of books and learning.
Location: 5309 Lincoln Hwy., Thomasville. For more information, visit Tinyurl.com/SonnewaldExchange or email [email protected]
