A Summer Camp to Remember

Amethyst Retreat Center is offering the Jr .Tracker Wilderness Exploration Day Camp for Children between 10 and 17 years old. Nature-based education helps children develop confidence, ingenuity, problem solving and leadership skills

Level 1: August 5 to 9. Children learn the survival skills of their ancestors through games, primitive crafting projects, hands-on exercises and demonstrations. Level 2: August 12 to 16. This week expands the beginners course with primitive shelters, bone and stone tool work, pottery, advanced tracking, wild edibles, advanced cooking and more.

Instuctor Zach Fisher grew up in the woods and on the beaches of Northern California. He began teaching in 2011 and has since worked for several New York-based earth-skills programs. Fisher is co-founder of Earth Living Skills. He also leads guided tours for children and adults with Discover Outdoors into state parks. His goal is to foster a deeper connection between people and the natural world in the spirit of discovery and the maximizing of our human potential.
