The inaugural Central Pennsylvania Yoga Love Festival, rooted in unity, love and kindness, will be held from 10 a.m., September 28 through 2 p.m., September 29, at Amethyst Retreat Center, in Duncannon. The retreat style, eco-friendly, drug and alcohol-free festival will gather yoga studios, teachers, students, like-minded enthusiasts and businesses in a collaboration as never before in the region. People should bring reusable water bottles, plates and cutlery, and blankets or chairs for outdoor seating. No trash will be left behind.

Included in admission is access to all workshops, classes, health and wellness vendors and live music, with the option to camp overnight on the beautiful 144-acre property and access to its trails, labyrinth and lavender fields. Meals include a chakra-balancing potluck-style dinner with the community and a farm to table breakfast. Attendees are encouraged to bring a vegetarian or vegan dish to share.

The opening ceremony will begin with a blessing from Bhante Soma and an explanation of the sacred land by Karen Kovacs, president of Amethyst Retreat Center. World-renowned yoga teacher J. Brown will lead his signature yoga offering, Gentle is the New Advanced. Yoga activities will take place simultaneously on three stages and inside the house. Evening kirtan, sitar, violin and vocal musical performances, as well as an open drum circle, are planned. Forest bathing concludes the weekend activities.

“Our mission is to educate attendees so that their personal yoga journey is heightened, and also to raise awareness to the public on the numerous benefits of yoga and the connection of mind, body and spirit,” explains founder Chelsea Parcels. “The festival brings understanding and growth in all the limbs of yoga and lets love connect us. Part of our proceeds will benefit the Blue Lotus Temple and Bhante Soma.”

All-access tickets are $133; one-day ticket is: $75; drum circle: $33. Must be 14 or older. Location: 44 Buffalo Creek Rd., Duncannon. For more information, email [email protected]. For tickets and event schedule, visit PAYogaLoveFest.com.
