A Whole Person Approach to Fertility Care

Feb 28, 2021 09:25PM ● By Gisele M. Siebold
Various factors can impact fertility. Local experts Erin Donley and Jaque Hanson offer fertility care support that considers the whole person—body, mind and spirit. As practitioners, they have experience with tailoring services to fit client’s individual needs.

FertilityCare System Teaches Women to Achieve or Avoid Pregnancy

Donley provides individualized live teaching of the Creighton Model FertilityCare System. “This system teaches a woman to observe her signs of fertility so that she knows when she is fertile during each cycle,” explains Donley. “It can be used to either achieve or avoid pregnancy without any medications or devices. It is 96.8 percent effective in avoiding pregnancy, and for couples experiencing infertility, it is up to 80 percent effective in achieving pregnancy.

“I also provide individual nutritional coaching/counseling through Nutritional Therapy,” she says. “When working with clients, I help them make small, nutritional changes to yield big results in about two months to help combat fatigue, insomnia, premenstrual syndrome and digestive distress.

Since all of my services are private and individualized, I can help clients see how stress is impacting their fertility and encourage them in their own spiritual practices to help manage stress and balance hormones,” notes Donley. “For those clients struggling with infertility, I can provide an empathetic ear since it took my husband and I more than five years to conceive our daughter. If needed, I can refer to local providers for more in-depth counseling.”

The Ancient Way to Fertility in Modern Times

According to Hanson, Arvigo Maya Abdominal Therapy was developed by Dr. Rosita Arvigo, a naprapath (a professional who specializes in realigning the connective tissue) She has spent the last 30 years living in the heart of Belize’s rainforest. An apprentice of Don Elijio Panti, who was recognized in his New York Times obituary as “the last Mayan master healer in Belize, influenced Elijio.” Another important influence to her was Hortence Robinson, a midwife, healer and herbalist from Belize.

Dr. Arvigo created the Arvigo Maya Abdominal Therapy in the early 1990’s. She learned that by decongesting the abdomen, pelvis and uterus, and stimulating the flow of blood, lymph, nerves and qi (energy or life–force), will help to restore function to the vital organs in the abdominal cavity.

“Fertility may be enhanced by powerfully priming the uterus and pelvis to conceive more easily by getting all the fertility juices flowing both in the mind and the body to prepare safely for conventional fertility treatments, or if trying to conceive naturally,” describes Hanson. “Maya Abdominal Therapy is safe and beneficial to enhance fertility and prepare the body prior to undergoing conventional treatments.”

“Maya Abdominal Therapy returns the body to homeostasis,” notes Hanson. “As powerful as this modality is in assisting women with fertility, it is just as potent for men as well. The technique guides abdominal organs into their proper position which increases blood supply to the prostate and encourages blood flow to the entire pelvis. Belizean rainforest herbal remedies may be used as part of the protocol for erectile dysfunction, impotency, benign prostate hyperplasia, and kidney or bladder infection, prostatitis, help sperm production, kidney or bladder stones (not acute). “

“In conjunction with other alternative modalities and life style changes, Maya Abdominal therapists work with their clients to create a loving, calming, proactive program to restructure the emotional and spiritual wellbeing of their clients,” she shares.

“Breathwork, nutrition, supplements, rainforest herbal teas and tonics, aromatherapy, energy work, shamanic work, and past-life regression may open up new pathways so that the intelligence of the body may shine through any challenge,” Hanson says.

During the first appointment the therapist will teach the self-care abdominal therapy technique. This life changing technique may be performed at home daily and takes only five to seven minutes. The fertility process can be a very stressful time. Maya Abdominal Therapy is a self-care protocol that both partners can share. Working jointly as a couple can increase overall health and strengthen the bond by connecting in a deeper level, together creating a sustainable healthy lifestyle.
