Natural Awakenings South Central Pennsylvania

December 2013 Publisher Letter

We are approaching the conclusion of our third year publishing this monthly magazine.  It’s been a personally fulfilling journey and a blessing to witness its growth, which is a direct reflection of the interest, commitment and passion that exists throughout South Central Pennsylvania, a growing passion for health, wellness, healing, sustainability, personal growth, self-awareness, peace, joy and love.

This passion is reflected in our responsive readership and by the practitioners and providers, both large and small, that advertise their goods and services to our growing audience.

This issue, our 34th, is my favorite to date. The theme this month is Awakening Humanity, and the thread that runs throughout is the universal message of self-awareness and self-love. Truly, the best way for me to awaken humanity is to focus within.

Please be sure to cozy up by the fire or relax over a cup of sugar-free cocoa and digest everything this holiday issue has to offer. Eckhart Tolle reminds us that the kingdom of heaven is within. “Near Death Experiences” inspires us to live fully. “Be Happy Right Now” is a testament to how short life really is. “Tis the Season to Be Wise” reminds us to allow the body, mind and spirit to follow the natural rhythms of sundown and sunrise.  “Peace on Our Plates” ties it all together, reminding us that we really are what we eat and our individual and collective consciousness has an effect on our health and planet.

In-between curling up and relaxing, be sure to get outside and move your body whenever you can. If the outdoors is not a viable option, there are plenty of other opportunities near you that will help you breathe deeply and sweat. After all, we are spiritual beings in a physical body; a body that we must nourish and care for attentively, including sufficient exercise. To find your best options for exercise, check out the Yoga, Pilates & Fitness Guide along with our Fit Body section.

In this time of global, social and economic uncertainty, I’m reminded that peace lies within. I’m inspired by the notion that I have a choice to make the changes in my thoughts, beliefs and actions that will ultimately allow me to create the world of my desire. I find comfort in knowing that I can face challenges as lessons in this fantastic learning laboratory called life.

In this holiday season, on behalf of the entire staff at Natural Awakenings, please accept our deepest and most sincere wishes for peace and prosperity for you and your family and as always, remember to feel good, live simply and laugh more.
