Growing Herbs in the Garden

The annual nonprofit Pennsylvania Herb and Garden Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 5, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 6, at the York Expo Center Memorial Hall to advance public knowledge about growing and using herbs by educating individuals about improving the Earth and environment. Workshops and talks will take place throughout the show.

The featured speaker is Susan Belsinger, an internationally known horticulturist, author, culinary herbalist, educator, food writer, photographer and editor. She has authored and edited more than 25 books and hundreds of articles.

Horticulturist Jessica Walliser is the co-host of The Organic Gardeners, an award-winning program on KDKA Radio in Pittsburgh, and a former contributing editor for Organic Gardening magazine. Her lectures will focus on her new book, Container Gardening Complete, which features everything to successfully garden in a small space.

Other speakers include Joseph Kiefer, of Triple Oaks Nursery & Herb Garden; Mike Larkin, of Mike Larkin Designs; Martha Hoff, owner of Five Points Five Points Farm Market & Greenhouse; master gardener Karen O'Brien and more.
