Natural Awakenings South Central Pennsylvania

Tradition Drives Innovation at Sonnewald

Sonnewald Natural Foods is celebrating their 65th anniversary with trails that are open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a coupon to save $10 (see back cover). Visitors can experience the peace and quiet, listen to the birds and relax by the pond. They can get some sun and vitamin D, search for wild edible plants, go barefoot and get grounded. BYO picnic lunch.

One of the oldest natural food stores in Pennsylvania, this unique business began in the Lefever family laundry room where they ground wheat grown on the farm into whole grain flour for friends and neighbors. Over the years customers’ increasing requests for whole foods and information about health resulted in the current 8,000-square-foot store.

The 60-acre chemical-free farm in Stoverstown provides natural, organic and sustainably produced products, education and inspiration. Highlights include Real Salt, CBD oil and an extensive climate-controlled bulk foods room.

Location: 4796 Lehman Rd., Spring Grove. For more information, call 717-225-3825, email [email protected] or visit Sonnewald.org.
