Native plants provide nectar and pollen for our native bees and butterflies that non-native ornamentals cannot; are suited to our region, needing no water after establishment, no fertilizer, little mulch and no insecticides to thrive; have deep root systems that help with stormwater runoff. Planting 70% native plants in your garden can turn around biodiversity loss. We can assist you in choosing the right native plants for your location and use.

The Wilderness Greenhouse is the horticultural program of Diakon Youth Services, a non-profit that has served youth and families in Central Pennsylvania for over 30 years. Together we grow and sell native perennials for restoration, conservation, and habitat improvement projects, large and small. We offer over 200 species of forbs, ferns, grasses, shrubs, trees and vines.
