Experience Japanese Tea Done Right

Your Yoga will host an authentic Japanese tea ceremony on May 13, with two seatings at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Owner Cynthia Johannes-Beecher will be highlighting a Japanese tea sensei located in York to share a tea ceremony class inclusive of learning, drinking tea and enjoying sweets.

She says, “Your Yoga is excited to offer you the rare opportunity to experience a true Japanese tea ceremony here at our studio. We are fortunate to have Todd Frey, a sensei, here to provide this beautiful class. Todd will share his journey and talk about tea history, matcha cultivation and the health benefits of tea. He will also introduce us to many aspects of tea ceremony itself and discuss how he came to build his own tea hut here in West York. The tea ceremony, or chanoyu in Japanese, is a ritual of intention and quiet reflection. For tea masters, it’s an art form requiring years of study. Join us to learn, relax, celebrate our host and each other, and taste the most amazing tea and some delightful sweets.”

Cost is $20. Location: 1900 Orange St., York. To register (required), call 717-586-6494, email [email protected] or visit YorkYourYoga.com.
